Winter 2010 Class Schedule

CLASSES AT STITCH DC

To learn about new classes, just visit us at Stitch DC . Looking for another class or new technique let me know or sign up for an independent study class!

Beginner Classes
Knitting

This is where we start.  Also a great refresher course.  Three sessions total. Learn to knit, purl, stockinette stitch, seed stitch, cast on, bind off. $90/plus materials.
Tuesdays, February 23, March 2 and 9 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm
Fridays, March 5, 12 and 19 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm


Schedule can't fit in three session.  Try this class. It's Stitch DC signature crash course.  Learn to Knit FAST: 1 hour class from 11-12 pm / $15 dollars plus materials. You'll learn the knit stitch and be on your way to making a Scarf! Email marie@marieconnolly.com to sign up.

Learn to Crochet FAST: 1 hour class from 11-12 pm / $15 dollars plus materials. You'll learn the knit stitch and be on your way to making a Scarf! Email marie@marieconnolly.com to sign up.
March 14 / 11-12 pm
** The beginner class is best paired with this cabled beret hat class. ** Sign up for both and receive a 10 Percent discount of the class fee.

Cabled Beret Hat:  Know to knit and purl.  Want to learn to cable.  A chunky hat cabled will look great knit in wools or cottons.  This is a great second class to build on your beginner skills.
Thursdays: 3/18 and 3/27 from 6:30 to 8:00.  $55 plus materials. 


Fair Isle Vest: Learn to do corrugated ribbing, stranded knitting, how to hold and carry multiple colors in a single row and how to steek (cut your project at the end). Four 1.5 hour sessions starting February 11.
Classes: 2/18, 25, and March 4 and 15/ 6:30 to 8:00 pm
Class fee: $80 (materials not included but mention class membership and receive 10% off all materials)





Improve your knitting by building your skill base. Sometimes knowing a new, better or improved way to do what we take for granted can make your project even better.

3 knitted toes: figure eight toes, provisional toes, & basic decreased toes. feb27 / 11:15 to 12:15 pm $15. -- Space available. Just email me to reserve a spot at marie@marieconnolly.com. Bring or buy at Stitch DC, worsted weight yarn and size 7/8 needles (circulars or double pointed needles).


February 27 / 1-3 pm: Zippers and Hems: Using the aline skirt pattern, we'll learn to insert a zipper and hem a skirt. -- Class is full.

February 27 / 3-5 pm: Learn to Sew: using Stitch DC's newest pattern, Spring Sewn Blanket. This is a perfect quick intro to sewing with a machine. We have machines that you can use during class or bring your own. $35 plus materials -- UPDATE THIS CLASS IS FULL.

Announcing Stitch DC's March Knitalong. Sometimes a project comes along that is so exciting that we must sponsor a Knitalong. So, here it is...

Have you seen the new Interweave Knits... We have copies at the store.
And we are starting this new FREE pattern, Yggdrasil Afghan. as our March Knit A Long. It comes in three sizes. Just imagine this project made in Blue Sky Cotton or Karabella's Soft Tweed. A great affordable choice is Cascade 220. Anyway, the pattern uses worsted weight yarns, you'll learn tons in this knit along including Provisional Cast ons; Reading Charts, Cables, Pattern Reading. The knit along will be every Saturday from 1-3 pm and Tuesdays from 1-3 pm. Stop in and knit with us. At each session, there will be expert help to answer questions. Remember, our Knit alongs are free with purchase of materials for the project from the store. You also receive double points on your Reward Card for Knit along Purchases.

 
Learn to Crochet
Make a beautiful granny square blanket. This is not your grandmother's crochet. Using subtle soft cotton yarns in fashion forward colors you'll have a blanket that will be treasured. $55 plus materials
Thursdays: 1/28 and 2/4 -- 6:30 to 8:00


INDIE STUDY
For help on those last minutes items that need to knit and finished. Bring your project and I'll help you get thru the rough patches. $15/ no reservation necessary
Every Monday Night from 6:30 to 7:30.
