August Blanket Stitch

Suggested Materials
Approximately 200 yards of a Worsted Weight Wool (for each square)
US 8 knitting needle
Cable Needle
G Or H Crochet hook
Darning Needle
Measuring Tape

Knit Square: Slanted Lace Rib
(Pattern is a Multiple of 10
stitches)
Row 1 *k3, p2, k2tog, yo, c2B, p1
Row 2: *k2, p3, k2, p3
Row 3: k3, p1, k2tog, yo, c2B, p2
Row 4: *k2, p4, k1, p3
Row 5: *k3, k2tog, yo, C2B, k1, p2
Row 6: *k2, p8
Row 7: *k2, k2tog, yo, C2b, k2, p2
Row 8: *k2, p8
Row 9:* k1, k2tog, yo, C2B, k3, p2
Row 10: *k2, p3, k1, p4
Row 11: * k2tog, yo, C2B, p1, k3, p2
Row 12: *k2, p3, k2, p3
To make your practice swatch, cast on 20 stitches. Work each row twice across the row. Complete 12 rows. Measure swatch to determine final number of stitches to cast on for blanket square.

CROCHET SQUARE:Tortugas
(ch a multiple of 6 sts + 1)
Row 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 2 dc in 4th ch from hook, *skip 2 ch, sc in next ch, skip 2 ch, 5dc in next next ch (creates the shell); rep from *, ending 3 dc in last ch, turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first dc, *skip 2 dc, 5dc in sc, skip 2 dc, sc in center dc of shell below; rep from *, ending sc in top ch of ch-3 turning ch, turn.
Row 3: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 2 dc in sc, *skip 2 dc,
sc in center dc of shell below, skip 2 dc, 5dc in sc; rep from *, ending 3 dc instead in last sc, turn.
Rep Rows 2 and 3 for patt.
To make your practice swatch, chain 25 stitches. Work pattern for 4”. Measure the width of the finished swatch. Determine how many stitches to chain to make your final blanket square.
