Christmas Stocking Pattern

Fair Isle Holiday Stocking

Yarn, Needles and Notions
200 yards of worsted weight yarn (COLOR A)
75-100 yards of worsted weight yarn (COLOR B)
75-100 yards of worsted weight yarn (COLOR C)
US 6 double pointed needles
Darning needle

Gauge: 5 stitches = 1"


PATTERN
Cast on 48 stitches with A
Join Round and Knit 2 rounds
Purl 1 round
Knit 4 rounds.
Start Chart from Round 1
Work even in Main color until sock measures 6 1/2"
Next Round: With WASTE YARN knit 24 stitches,
change to Main color and work for an additional 31/2"


TOE
On the last row arrange yarn as follows:
Needle 1: 12 stitches; Needle 2: 12 stitches, Needle 3: 24 stitches
Toe Decrease Round:
Needle1: K1, K2tog, knit to end
Needle 2: Knit to last three stitches, ssk, k1
Needle 3: K1, K2tog, knit to last three stitches, ssk, k1
Work 1 round even.
Repeat the last TWO rounds until 8 stitches total remain
and graft with Kitchener Stitch remaining stitches


Afterthought Heel
Remove waste yarn and place 48 stitches on needles as follows
Needle 1: 12 stitches; Needle 2: 12 stitches, Needle 3: 24 stitches
Work Next round as follows
Needle1: K1, K2tog, knit to end
Needle 2: Knit to last three stitches, ssk, k1
Needle 3: K1, K2tog, knit to last three stitches, ssk, k1
Work 1 round even.
Repeat the last TWO rounds until 8 stitches total remain.
and graft with Kitchener Stitch remaining stitches
