Wearing my knitted policy hat today at Stitch DC

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and Tina Tchen, Executive Director of the White House Council on Women and Girls and Director of Office of Public Engagement visited Stitch DC today. (photos to come later)

Stitch DC hosted a town hall meeting discussing health reform and small business especially how it impacts female owned small businesses. Very exciting. The Secretary released this new study "Roadblocks to Health Care: Why the current health care system does not work for Women"

Did you know...
* 21 million women and girls went without health insurance in 2007
* Single women are twice as likely to be uninsured than married women
* Married women in the 55 to 64 age group are particularly vulnerable to a discontinuity of coverage as their spouses go on Medicare.

Health care should not be a luxury. As a mother of three and small business owner, I worry every day about our health care coverage. Reform is needed and now each of us have an opportunity to be a stakeholder in this discussion. Join us & show your support for the health care reform by clicking here and filling out the survey.
