New Hat for Oonagh -- FREE PATTERN

Another knitted baby item... a free pattern.

I knit this last night in about 2 hours. For the newborn size, i used less than a skein.

Enjoy the pattern. Classic Elite Obsession is available at Stitch DC. Or any chunky yarn will work in this pattern.

Oonagh’s Hat

Materials:
1 skein Classic Elite Obsession
US 13 Knitting Needles
Darning Needle

Gauge:
3 stitches and 5 rows equal 1”

Sizes:
0-3 month (6-12 month, 12-24 month)
12” (16”, 19”)
The hat is knit loose and stretches for additional ease

Hat:
Cast on 31 (51, 61) stitches
Row 1: P1, *k1, p1, repeat from * to end of row.
Row 2: K1, *p1, k1 repeat from * to end of row.
Repeat the last two rows for 1”

Change to Stockinette stitch and work until hat measures 4 (4 ½, 5)” ending with a wrong side row.
Start decreasing as follows:

Next row: (RIGHT SIDE FACING): K1, * k2tog, k3 repeat from * to end of row. -- (25, 41, 49 stitches)
Purl 1 row.
Next row: K1 *k2tog, k2 repeat from * to end of row. -- (19, 31, 37 stitches)
Purl 1 row.
Next row: K1, *K2tog, k1, repeat from * to end of row. – (13, 21, 25 stitches)
Purl 1 row:
Next row: K1, *k2tog repeat from * to end of row. – (6, 11, 13 stitches)

For 0-3 month size only:
Next row: P1, *p2tog repeat from * to end of row – 4 stitches.

For 6-12 month size only:
Purl 1 row
Next row: K1 *k2tog repeat from * to end of row -- 6 stitches

For 12-24 month size only:
Purl 1 row
Next row: K1 *k2tog repeat from * to end of row – 7 stitches

All sizes: Cut 12” long tail.
Pull yarn thru live stitches and sew seam.

I knitted this in a lovely pink, (12 ply in New Zealand is the equivalent.. Have you a bottie pattern free to match this lovely hat please? I have a new grandaughter Stell, she is 2 weeks old, so I am seeing her in 7 days.
